Administration services

BSEL provides administration services for Berkshire Scouts. This includes services for the County Training Team; the County Executive Committee; and Project Africa.

Project Africa & Uganda 2011

Project Africa is a Berkshire Scouts community project to support two special schools in Uganda – young people supporting young people. The project will see 100 Berkshire Scouts and Leaders traveling to Uganda in the summer of 2011 to work at the schools. The Scouts going to Uganda will be supported by other Berkshire Scouts of all ages (6 years plus) through a global awareness programme (GAP). The global awareness programme will help Berkshire Scouts understand the lives of children in Uganda and also provide the opportunity to help fund the community projects.

The community projects include:

Bukeka Children's Centre (Mityana). Building a chicken coop and supplying 1,000 chickens . . . a self sustaining project that will provide eggs to feed the school children as well as selling eggs on the local market to raise income for the school. The Scouts will also rebuild a falling-down school kitchen.

Kavule School for the Deaf (Mbale). The Scouts will complete a rainwater harvesting scheme as well as some general refurbishment work at the school.
